Asalam aleikoum how's it going. Here's my thoughts on the Tri Star Act announcement. There's also a seiyuu tweets/photos compilation at the end of this article.

I try my best to avoid going over 20 minutes for each video, so the sole topic this episode was the brand new King of Prism sequel movie announcement. KING OF PRISM -Tri-Star Act-.

The movie was announced on June 28, 2026, at the concert events "KING OF PRISM Pretty Boys SPECIAL THANKS PARTY！" and "KING OF PRISM SUPER LIVE Prism☆Tours！".

(In the talk show I messed up and said it was on July 5, my bad).

For commentary sake, here's the announcement tweet for the movie:

It reached 22K RTs and 25K Likes. That's pretty good for Kinpri. Then again you can't trust numbers on Twitter anymore.

Overall thoughts

Like I said in the video, in a way trios are the original essence of Pretty Rhythm and Pretty Series, so I'm pretty hype we get to see a brand new Kinpri movie focusing on a trio tournament. Really looking forward to it. This also means we'll get to see new Trio Prism Jumps for the first time in a really long while. Maybe since Rainbow Live ended in 2014? though maybe there were trio jumps in the kinpri stage plays, haven't seen them all yet. Really looking forward to the Prism Jumps that Minato Kazuo Yukisama will do together.

And yeah like I said, if Over The Rainbow, Kouji Hiro Kazuki, do end up participating, I assume there will be some kind of story reason shenanigan that'll make them loose. Or that they'll act as if they're each doing a solo show, like MARs after the Que Sera arc in Dear My Future.

But yeah that's where the joke for the left part of the thumbnail comes from. It's Hazuki You, the protagonist of Attacker You, in episode 49, as she faces off against a new rival, Kaido Hikaru, who is much taller than You despite being younger.

Kaido is one of my favorite characters in the series and a pretty original type of character archetype you don't see much. Extremely arrogant girl who uses "oresama" as her pronoun, but actually has the skills to back it up. And she's always laughing. To be honest I need to rewatch the show as I don't remember that much about her. I just rewatched episode 49 alone recently, and her first appearance there is really well done.

Ever since Kinpri began, Over The Rainbow are university students by now, while the Edel Rose characters are a few years younger, though I don't think anyone is as young as 15 anymore. And even if OTR looses, they won't get as angry as You. But yeah, "I was defeated by a 15 years old freak?" is a very funny screenshot so I had to use it.

Here are some more details that I didn't mention in the video.

On December 17, 2018, a little bit before the Shiny Seven Starts movies/tv series started in April 2019, the group YMT29 was officially revealed.

YMT29 are Prism Stars at Schwartz Rose who are all named after Yamanote Line stations. The group is divided into several sub groups. All sub groups and their members' names were officially revealed. YMT29 also includes the members of The Shuffle who's been appearing since the first Kinpri movie. (Ace is part of two different sub groups).

Except for The Shuffle, the characters only had their names revealed, they don't have seiyuu yet. (I'm too lazy to transliterate their names in English sorry, you can find the full list here).

Takanawa Gateway is one of the stations, so Takanawa Gateway Prince is definitely a new member of YMT29.

I was too focused talking in the video and didn't realize that the trailer does confirm that Takanawa Gateway Prince is indeed, Ushio, one of Minato's little brothers. Because the line Minato says at the end can be translated to "I have to face him head-on even if we're family".

Like I said in the video, I actually still haven't finished watching Shiny Seven Stars, so I haven't seen the Minato-focused episode yet, so I don't know what kind of family quarrel they're having and how Tsubasa, one of their little sisters, is involved.

It's possible they already revealed in the past that Minato's brother had joined Schwartz Rose. Maybe in Butakin - Butai Kinpri, official nickname for the stage plays I still haven't seen, or in past interviews. Or maybe director Hishida talked about it in a stage greeting etc; I haven't kept up with side material info for Kinpri since Pride the Hero released.

Pretty Rhythm and its sequel King of Prism aren't only comedies

So that's one thing I brought up in the video that I wanted to elaborate on. Kobayashi Chiaki, Takanawa Gateway Prince's seiyuu, made a really funny tweet that can be translated to:

"I'm going to voice Takanawa Gateway Prince in the new King of Prism movie! BTW, anyone know what a Takanawa Gateway Prince is...?"

This is typical Pretty Rhythm. The series, its staff and cast are self-aware of how over-the-top the series is. It's ALWAYS been like that and the goal is indeed to make the audience laugh.

However, Pretty Rhythm and its sequel Kinpri are not only a "lol so random XD" series. This is just one facet of the series. The writing, the characters, the worldbuilding have always been extremely intricate and among the best you'll ever see in anime. Sometimes certain storylines have nothing particularly original, but the whole point is that they're executed flawlessly. Certain plotlines in Aurora Dream/Dear My Future or Rainbow Live/King of Prism are strikingly similar to tons of past shoujo series like Ace wo Nerae or Glass no Kamen, but the point is that while they copied these series, they managed to refine and overpefect their formula.

Anyway, that's kinda my elitist otaku talking, and I need to constantly keep it in check so I don't start telling people that they aren't playing with their toys the right way.

But sometimes, I feel like it's a shame that a series gets popular for a certain thing, while there are other things in that same series that are way more interesting and deserve to be discovered.

One of the most egregious examples of post 2020 is the Taihou Shichauzo / You're Under Arrest gif of Nikaidou where she goes teehee. Nikaidou is one of my favorite characters in the series (I like everyone though) and I kinda hate seeing this gif lol. Because I don't even remember what scene it was.

Maybe it actually was memorable in context, but there are many other scenes with her that etched in my brain watching it as a middle schooler. And there are so many other funny and interesting things in that series, it's kinda sad that this gif is the only thing people know about it, and no one is watching it.

I need to rewatch it myself one day, rewatch the excellent live action adaptation too, and then read the manga for the first time. Wanna do all this and then write my impressions for ko-fi subs insha Allah.

This reminds me of a scene in the Rockman Exe anime, definitely in the first two seasons as I never fully watched all of Stream, Axess and Beast, because no fansubs. I think it's when the Net City opens up, and Roll is dragging Rockman around for shopping and at some point she goes deshou deshou deshou, being excited about something.

I don't wanna act like a typical streamer so there are no audio blips or alerts in my streams and videos, but that specific deshou deshou deshou I never forgot and it's one voice clip I'd like to have as a reaction video sometimes. Alongside "Roll-sama da!!". It's one thing I wish was more popular instead of the boring You're Under Arrest gif.

Anyway, all of this to say is I want Pretty Rhythm to be more popular, but I hope people don't only see it as a "woah so random LOL" series without realizing that this is just one facet of it.
