Story of Seasons Series Manager, Rune Factory 6 Director Comments On New Teaser Trailers

Asalam aleikoum how's it going. Marvelous held on August 24 2026 a special live stream for the 30th anniversary of Story of Seasons and the 20th anniversary of Rune Factory. The stream most notably had follow-up news for two previously announced games, the next Story of Seasons game and Rune Factory 6.

The stream featured:

• Natsukawa Shiina, the seiyuu of Hina in Rune Factory 5 and Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma.
• Hira, YouTuber and huge Rune Factory fan. He is a regular on every Rune Factory live streams ever since the reveal of Rune Factory 5.
• Story of Seasons Series Manager Nakano Hikaru.
• Rune Factory Director Maekawa Shiro.
• MC Matsuzawa Neki.

After the introductions, they jokingly noted that they were all there today as huge fans of both series rather than for their jobs. Overall it was a very entertaining stream to watch.

Note that both Natsukawa Shiina and Hira were also on the Guardians of Azuma pre release stream on January 22 2025.

New Bokujou Monogatari / Story of Seasons game teaser trailer

After several segments which included among others the results of the character popularity fan polls, the stream revealed a new teaser video for the next Story of Seasons game, which is still untitled.

The video is only 36 seconds long, featuring full 3D footage with some of the iconic crops and animals of the series. The video also features a small village and different visuals for the same type of animal.

Story of Seasons series manager Nakano Hikaru explained that the game is still in development and further details will be coming at a later date. He didn't share a release date estimate or platforms. He was very tight-lipped and didn't say anything else on the game.

Rune Factory 6 new teaser trailer

A few minutes later, a new teaser video for Rune Factory 6 was also revealed. The video is 35 seconds long and features a large building, a house (probably the protagonist's), some crops, and a Woolie, the sheep-like iconic monsters of Rune Factory. The creature is seen meeting up with other Woolies at the entrance gates of a gigantic fantasy city. This could be hinting at a bigger focus on multiplayer elements when compared to the past games of the series. All the games so far were solo RPGs but with small multiplayer elements, such as item trading or mini-games.

This is also reminiscent of Rune Factory 3, whose protagonist was half-human half-Woolie and could turn into a Woolie at will.

After the teaser, Rune Factory director Maekawa Shiro stressed out that this is indeed Rune Factory 6, the game first announced three years ago. Myself included, some people in chat were thinking it was a new spinoff, seeing this is a little different from what we imagined.

Rune Factory is a series where the protagonists, characters and marriage candidates are very important, so it's a bit surprising to see a teaser video where no specific character is revealed yet.

No release date estimate or platforms were revealed for Rune Factory 6 and further details will be coming at a later date.

Near the end of the stream, Maekawa Shiro also explained that quite a big team is working on Rune Factory 6 and shared a pretty moving anecdote: One of the developers on the game played Rune Factory 5 in high school and liked it so much that they decided to study to become a game developer. They graduated and joined Marvelous this 2026.

The next Story of Seasons game and Rune Factory 6 were both first announced during the Marvelous Game Showcase event on May 26 2023. Ryuu no Kuni Rune Factory / Rune Factory Guardians Of Azuma was announced at the same time with a short teaser video showing both protagonists.

As a side note, the 2023 showcase also announced a fourth game, a multiplayer Story of Seasons that "everyone can play together". It's likely this game is the mobile game that was cancelled as of July 2026.

Back then, Rune Factory 6 was announced with only a logo. This logo features the same giant city seen in the new teaser trailer, with magic symbols in its skies.

Personally it reminds me of the cities in Last Remnant and Tales of Vesperia, which are among my favorite home console RPGs of the PS360 Wii era, together with Pandora no Tou, Rune Factory Frontier, Rune Factory Oceans, Resonance of Fate, the Xenoblade series, and Persona 5.
